Lots of things (both good and bad) happened in the 13 months since I’ve last posted. Highlights (and lowlights) are as follows:
Highlights:
Orlando 2024: we spent a month in Orlando basking in the sun and warmth and escaping the cold and snow of DC. (Yay to the life of an empty nester!)
March Madness 2024: checked off an item on my bucket list by going to Rounds 1 and 2 of the NCAA men’s tournament. We saw 18 hours of basketball over 2 days. Bliss! (Oh, and we also ate at Per Se and went to the Brooklyn Art Museum. Different cultural experiences, as it were.)

Joint birthday party: Jim and I celebrated our 60th (!) birthday with a dinner at the Inn at Little Washington.

Hawaii 2024: we spent a month in Honolulu with palm trees, ocean, and (lots of) surfing lessons. We had fabulous weather and delicious meals and time with family and friends who visited. There was work, of course, but conference calls and email while looking out on the ocean isn’t a bad gig.
USJLP 2024: a weekend with our US-Japan Leadership friends and colleagues and a few days spent with good friends.
Spain 2024: Jim had a board meeting in Spain, so we combined that with a trip. Our visit included Madrid, Toulouse, and Grenada (Alhambra is not to be missed). I ate my body weight in Iberico ham. My secret is safe with you, I know.
Christmas 2024 in Honolulu: There are few better places to spend Christmas than in Honolulu. We were a party of 10 altogether. Lots of family and fun time (oh, and surfing lessons, too). It was a blessing to spend time with family for the holidays.

Orlando (again) 2025: and to come full circle on the 13 months, we once again spent a month in Orlando escaping the cold and snow. Disneyworld is most truly the happiest place on earth.

Lowlights:
Concussion by Jim: Jim suffered a fall and concussion while playing tennis. This is just a good reason not to play tennis, right? He is fully recovered now, thank goodness.
Death of my father (September 2024): he had been suffering from declining health for a year or so before he died, but it was a shock all the same. You can read his obituary here (in English and Chinese):
As you can see, life continues with its ups and downs, but we have been fortunate all the same. Hope to post on a more regular basis going forward!
