That being said, it\u2019s been fun to look at their menu (that they kindly sent to us after we returned home) and think about what we ordered.<\/p>\n<p>No photos, either. We didn\u2019t want to look completely like uncouth Americans!<\/p>\n<p>For hors d\u2019oeuvres, we had the following:<\/p>\n<p>Coeur d\u2019Artichaut \u201cLucullus\u201d (artichoke filled with foie gras, truffles and chicken mousse), which was voted the favorite appetizer at the table;<\/p>\n<p>Escalope de Foie Gras Po\u00eal\u00e9e, Prunelles et Amandes (pan fried duck foie gras with damsons and marcona almonds);<\/p>\n<p>Coquilles St Jacques R\u00f4ties, Choux, Rutabaga et Estragon (roast scallops with winter cabbage, swede and tarragon veloute); and<\/p>\n<p>Consomm\u00e9 de Champignons et Salsifis Canard Fum\u00e9 et Flan de Persil (clear mushroom consomm\u00e9, roast salsify, smoked duck and parsley flan).<\/p>\n<p>For the main course, we ordered:<\/p>\n<p>Darne de Turbot R\u00f4tie, Carottes, Navets et Radis Beurre Blanc \u00e0 la Ciboulette (roast \u201cT\u201d bone of wild turbot, carrots, turnips, radish and chive butter sauce);<\/p>\n<p>Filet de Veau Rossini (veal fillet with foie gras and truffle madeira sauce); and<\/p>\n<p>Epaule d\u2019Agneau de Lait Brais\u00e9e, Olive Piment\u00e9es (braised shoulder of Pyrenean lamb with spiced olive crumb, roast potatoes and garlic).<\/p>\n<p>There was no consensus here, but I think the lamb was the best dish.<\/p>\n<p>And, finally, for dessert, we stuffed ourselves with:<\/p>\n<p>L\u2019Assiette du Chef (an assortment of the chef\u2019s favorite desserts); and<\/p>\n<p>Souffl\u00e9 aux Fruits de la Passion et Glace Ivoire (hot passion fruit souffl\u00e9 with white chocolate ice cream).<\/p>\n<p>Naturally, there were also petit fours to end the meal with because the restaurant was worried you might not have eaten enough.<\/p>\n<p>Service was efficient and impeccable and friendly (in the British way, not the American way).
