I made challah for the first time as part of a really fun afternoon/evening spent with a friend whom I’ve known since 4th grade. It was a time of a shared activity, reminiscing about shared memories, and re-enforcing the bonds of friendship.
I will treasure the memory of making challah on a cold winter day with her.
More practically, this bread requires no preparation the night before and only 2 rises. It’s an egg bread (or, more accurately, an egg yolk bread). The most intimidating part of making challah is the braiding, but I found the video (in the recipe) to be quite helpful.
